Colorful handwoven fabric samples

If your colors keep turning to mud, it’s not your eye for color.

What you’ve been blaming on your eye isn’t a talent problem. It’s a gap in what you were taught.

Five specific factors control how your colors combine in the finished cloth. The draft is one. The other four sit underneath it, and most weavers have never heard any of them named.

Our free guide, How Your Draft Changes Your Colors, goes deep on the first of the five. It’s the factor most weavers never think about, and once you see it you can’t unsee it.

Who’s behind this

Tien Chiu

Tien Chiu has spent more than ten years studying how color behaves in woven cloth. She’s dyed 2,500 yarn samples, woven hundreds of test fabrics, and taught thousands of students what their weaving books never covered.

Tien co-founded the Academy with Janet Dawson in 2022 to teach what most weavers never had the chance to learn.
